Production installations

In a Hippo Suite installation the Hippo CMS web interface, the repository and the Hippo Site Toolkit run on a robust webserver like Tomcat. This configuration can be clustered across multiple machines. In this case changes to the repository are replicated across all nodes in the cluster. Each Hippo Repository instance uses its own Lucene index (for full text searches) and each instance uses the same relational database server like MySQL. It is also possible to go a step further and replicate the database. Developers installation

Starting with version 7.6 the development environment is identical to the production environment. This way the developer has the same high performance as production and there are not subtle side effects of having a different development environment.
